I have a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the University of British Columbia. I first started blogging in 2009 when I became interested in pursuing a career in food journalism. I soon discovered a passion for food and lifestyle photography and went on to complete my diploma at Langara College. After a couple of years of blogging, I began to develop my own recipes and became a regular contributor to The Food Network Canada in 2014.
I’ve had my photography and recipes printed in several online and print publications such as Framework magazine, The Huffington Post, Yahoo Shine, Foodista, and Edible Vancouver, to name a few. I have a great passion for food and this shines through in all my work, whether it is photography, writing, or recipe development.
This blog is a reflection of me and my life and what I’m most passionate about. It’s a place where I share my stories, recipes, and photographs. It’s about the work I’m doing, the places I’m travelling and the people I break bread with. More than a recipe bank, it is about the stories around food, which is the tapestry that weaves the threads of connection, communication and culture together. It is where I show up to express my most creative self.
In addition to my affinity for prose, I have extensive experience developing recipes for my food blog Gratinee. Over the course of seven years, I learned a lot about cooking and creating fresh takes on classic recipes. My focus has always been on comfort food using whole ingredients, which continues to this day.
Over time, as I began to pursue a career in photography, my goals as a blogger changed and evolved. In addition, the way I eat has drastically changed, too. A sensitivity to wheat and gluten and many other common foods means I now have to approach my diet and the recipes I develop quite differently. Most of the recipes on my blog Gratinee do not reflect my current eating style, and readers who come to the blog looking for one thing, find a whole lot of something else and end up confused. The recipes on Gastrostoria are gluten-free, and are healthier takes on some of the world’s most beloved dishes and cuisines.
As a photographer, I strive to meet my clients’ needs. Whatever the campaign might be, I am amenable. But as a blogger serving a niche audience, I will only work with brands I like and would use or do use myself. The trust of my readers is of utmost importance to me, so I am selective about whom I work with in this regard. Thus, working with me will get you an authentic buzz around your product, as I work with brands that I am enthusiastic about.
My work has been featured in The Huffington Post, The Kitchn, Yahoo Shine as well as various blogs. My work appears regularly on Foodgawker and Tastespotting and I am a keen poster to Instagram.

Instructing and Coaching
I am a certified career counselor and veteran teacher with over ten years of experience teaching, coaching and facilitating one-to-one and in a group setting. I am available to teach workshops on writing and photography and to coach individuals on their blogging, writing, and photography goals.
